Airline soars into 45 new markets with Worldpay.

Worldpay helps growing carrier rapidly expand

As the largest airline in Brazil in terms of the number of departures and cities served, Azul offers 1,000 daily flights to more than 160 destinations. With an operational fleet of over 180 aircraft and more than 16,000 crew members, the company has a network of 300 direct routes.

The carrier sought a payments provider that could both support their ambitious growth plans, and also had extensive experience understanding the complexities of the airline industry. They also desired a supportive partner they could rely on to deliver a strong, end-to-end payments service and resulting good experience for their customers.

That’s when Worldpay entered the picture.

New markets

In 2016, Azul selected Worldpay to help them expand into new markets, including North America and Europe. The airline is now using Worldpay’s online payments and foreign exchange services in all markets and is seeing the most significant boosts from consumers in Portugal and the United States.

With Worldpay as their trusted and exclusive global payments processor and advisor, Azul has successfully expanded into 45 new countries and doubled revenue since the relationship between the two organizations began.

Having one payments partner pays dividends

By working with Worldpay as their sole payments partner, Azul has been able to avoid the complication and added expense of dealing with multiple payments processors across many markets as it continues to expand. With Worldpay, Azul has benefitted from lower integration costs and faster market entry ─ allowing them to quickly grow at scale and ultimately increase revenue.

"Working alongside Worldpay has given us a huge competitive edge in the market, as evidenced by the multitude of countries we’ve moved into and the marked increase in revenue since our partnership started," notes Douglas Pacheco, senior manager of cargo strategic planning, pricing and business development, at Azul.
